ReNew and ReBuild Ukraine Working Group – Developing a Self-Funding, Sustainable Roadmap for Ukraine’s Reconstruction
The Peace Coalition and the Victoria Forum are working with local and international experts and donors to pilot a housing, land and property (HLP) mass claims restitution process in the Hostomel hromada (region) in the Kyiv Oblast, supported by local community engagement and modern urban master planning. Hostomel has an area of 66.5 square kilometres (25.7 sq mi) and a population of 28,649, as of 2020. The hromada includes 4 settlements: 1 rural settlement (Hostomel), and 3 villages (Horenka, Moshchun, and Ozera)
Building from the VicForum 2024, we are launching a working group focussed on developing a comprehensive roadmap to build capacity on the ground in Ukraine and combine it with well-known and innovative new private capital financing mechanisms to promote a ‘build-back-better’ early-recovery mechanism for the efficient reconstruction of the country aligned with the applicable international law and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
By supporting locally-led solutions that are grounded in complex systems-informed governance, the reconstruction process can empower local actors to take charge of rebuilding their communities. International networks of leading researchers, supported by innovative financial vehicles, can help ensure that the reconstruction is transparent, accountable, and aligned with global sustainability goals.
The Peace Coalition, with oversight from the Victoria Forum, has a plan to ensure the recovery of Ukraine is transparent, sustainable and inclusive and we need your support.
